According to the woman, who broke down in tears, Ali would normally threaten to destroy the home by fire which she says he did on Monday afternoon at around 5:30pm.Angela Inshanally and her 6-year-old daughter stand before what is left of their home.Inshanally, a domestic worker in New Amsterdam, said that he started to curse and “fight her” on Monday afternoon after arriving home a bit late from work.“He always do this anytime me come home late…it was just after five,”she said.After leaving the home in frustration, she was later told by a villager that her home was engulfed in flames. None of her four daughters were in the home at the time.“He always does fight me, beat me and break me hand”, the woman said, breaking down in tears. “One time he make attempt to light it and the children out it, but this time he tell the children if they go and out anything, he will go and break their hand,” she said.She is the sole breadwinner of the home, since Ali gets odd-jobs here and there as a chauffeur with Route 63 minibuses, from time to time.“He always beating me and me children all the time, but because of the children I had to stay.”She said she made several reports to the police who arrested Ali a few months ago for beating her badly. He was put in the lock- ups, but his wife ran to his rescue and had him released.Inshanally spoke very passionately that she wants nothing to do with Ali and made a plea for him to stay away from her and her children.“I don’t want him back. Let him stay away from me and me children. Somehow, we will try and see what we can do”, she said.However, she is still fearful that he will harm her and the children.No one could have gained access to the home to quell the blaze, since the fire started from a bedroom that would have provided easy access to the home. She also spoke about the abuse.“He does cuss me mother up, beat she, break she hand”, she said. “He does lash the lady, chase she out and cuss she nasty every two days”. “He does beat we with cable and bran’ up we skin.”Neighbours of Inshanally told Kaieteur News that it is suspected that the couple had a heated argument about the unbecoming behaviour and attitudes of the 4 teenage girls and that Ali may have been “sent off the edge” and set the house ablaze.Inshanally admitted that her daughters are indeed giving her a difficult time since they all have boyfriends but she is trying her best with the situation.Investigations are continuing.
